Students took a pre-assessment yesterday and I plan to use that data as one of the driving forces for tiering my lesson for different levels of readiness. I'm still tinkering with the actual format and think I plan to create a blog where I can post links to the various levels. I'm thinking that if I do this correctly that I can use it in coming years as well and possibly share with colleagues that teach the same subject.

  2. *Sorry about the re-post... Discovered a left out a couple of words after I published the comment post.

I am really looking forward to watching the progress of your project. You may not remember, but I sent you a message at the beginning of the semester about asking you some questions in regard to Web 2.0 and instruction. I've since narrowed my topic (for my applied project) down to college students/higher ed, though. Still, your project sounds like it's right up my alley (in terms of what I'm interested in, in the IDT field).

  3. That is a great idea. If you plan on using this activity for future classes make sure all URLs are still working in the future before you have them start the assignment. It is also great that you are combining what you are taking from this class and applying it to what we are learning at North Scott with tiering.

One questions, how will you insure all students will have access to the Internet to complete the assignment?

  4. Good to hear the pre-assessment has been given. Hopefully we can use teh information we have been discussing in professional development time to analyze all of the data.

Like I said on your response to Tim's blog, I think that sharing these possible blogs with the other teachers in our content areas is a great idea and we could probably have students collaborating with other teacher's classes. Such as Dempsey and I's students commenting on eachothers work, etc. Hmm....

  5. From Jay Sternickle, IDT 516 classmate.

Thanks for reminding me about doing some kind of pre-assessment. I will need to build that into my lesson plan. Please post your new "lesson blog" URL here, when it is up and running. Keep up the good work.

  6. Tim-I plan on letting students use one of the 6 computers in my room to access the blog. They should only need a few minutes to choose their tier and to copy/print their assignment.

  8. Kelley-I talked to Koranda today and I think we are planning on sharing this next semester. This will be the "guinea pig" run to see how it works. If it goes well, I think we will try to utilize the blog next semester much more frequently. This would be a great resource for teachers like Burmahl and Willet that are teaching new subject areas.
